Features
Everything below is in the build you can install. The list of what the app deliberately does not do is the more useful half, and it is at the bottom.
Finding
Chords from anywhere
-
Any site, any language
A real browser inside the app, opened on a search for the song. Whatever page has the version you like is the one you keep.
-
This is it
One tap turns the page into a chord sheet. Lines that were not on the page are taken out, and the preview says when that happened.
-
Share from your browser
Found the chords in Safari or Chrome already? Share the page to the app and it opens there, ready to import.
-
Fix it yourself
Tap a word to put a chord on it, drag a chord to move it, or edit the text directly. The imported version is kept, so you can always go back to it.
Playing
The play view
-
Transpose
A semitone at a time, remembered per song, with sharps or flats chosen to suit the new key. The chords you saved are never rewritten.
-
Auto-scroll
Tap to start and stop, with the speed saved per song. Starting it also counts the song as played.
-
Chord diagrams
Tap any chord for its guitar fingering, and swipe for other positions. The diagrams are in the app, so they work offline.
-
Made for the dark
Dark or light with your phone, large text, a pinch to resize, and a screen that stays on while a song is open. Lyrics-only hides the chords.
-
Capo and key
The key is shown above the song, and so is the capo when the page you saved from asks for one.
-
Right to left, and Do-Re-Mi
Right-to-left lines read the right way, with every chord over its syllable. Solfège chord names can be shown as letters, or kept.
Picking
Finding the next song
-
A to Z
Every title in large type, alphabetical, one section per letter. Other scripts get their own letters after the Latin ones.
-
Search and filters
Search titles, artists and words. Filter by language, or by what you have not played in thirty days.
-
Set lists and shuffle
Plan a night, drag it into order, swipe through it while you play, or shuffle it. "All songs" is always there as a list of its own.
-
History
What you played, night by night. A song counts after a minute on screen or when auto-scroll starts, so a quick look does not.
What it does, and what it will not do
The right-hand column is deliberate. Each of those is a decision, not a gap in the roadmap.
What it does
- Keep the songs you know, with their chords, on your phone
- Save chords from any web page you choose, in any language
- Take out any lyric line that was not on the page
- Transpose, auto-scroll and show a diagram for any chord
- Read right-to-left songs the right way
- Work with no signal and no account, apart from finding new chords
What it deliberately does not
- Write chords or lyrics from memory — every line comes from the page you picked
- Recommend songs or decide what you play next
- Fetch pages on a server — the page loads on your phone
- Keep a copy of your songs anywhere but your phone
- Share songs or set lists with other people
- Show advertising, or need an account for anything
